A recent study on Age Associated Memory Impairment (AAMI) by the New York University School of Medicine Alzheimer’s Disease Centre suggested that memory function can be protected as you age by, among other things, engaging in regular physical exercise.1
If you can’t remember the last time you broke a sweat, you may want to consider getting some physical exercise several times per week. This may include, walking, hiking, jogging, running, racquet sports, cycling, etc., Prior to starting any physical exercise routine, you should consult your healthcare professional. Activities such as these can also help you reduce stress and remain socially active, two other strategies believed to protect memory function as you age.
