If you’re thinking about Age Associated Memory Impairment (AAMI), you may already be on the right path to preventing it. Recent research suggests that memory function can be protected as you age by remaining mentally active.
If you can’t remember the last time you flexed your mind muscle, you may want to consider getting some mental exercise several times per week. This may involve playing chess, doing crosswords or Sudoku puzzles, playing board games, cards, studying, or even learning a new language. Activities such as these can also help you reduce stress and remain socially active, two other strategies believed to protect memory function as you age.
You can also research the relationship between mental exercise and brain health yourself by visiting our Consumer Research and Resource page.
